REV. PETE MIXON’S SERMON ON MAY 10, 2026
1 SAMUEL CHAPTER 1
HANNAH – A GODLY MOTHER
We all know the story of Hannah. She was the first wife of Elkanan, and he loved her very much, but she was barren. In Jewish tradition, the Midrash allowed a man to take another wife if his first wife was barren for 10 years. Elkanan took a second wife, Pininnah, so she could bear his children. Pininnah was a source of constant torment for Hannah. She was jealous of Hannah because Elkanan loved Hannah more than her, and she provoked Hannah because she was barren. For years and years, Pininnah’s torment brought Hannah to tears, but Hannah had great faith in God, that He would answer her prayers.
Please listen to Pastor Pete’s sermon to hear how God answered Hannah’s unending prayers.
It was prophesied in the OT that Jesus would be a man of prayer. In the NIV Bible, Psalm 109:4 it reads:
"In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.”
In Luke 3:21, we read that Jesus prayed at His baptism. In Luke 5:16, Jesus prayed during His temptation in the wilderness. In Luke 6:12 He continued all night in prayer. In Luke 9:28, Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and in Luke 11:1, He prayed in a certain place. Jesus’ prayer for himself can be found in John Chapter 17, when in anguish He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest, persecution and crucifixion.
Pastor Mixon continued his sermon with examples of how Christians can improve on their prayer life.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8, NKJV).

The Zoo of Psalm 22
Pastor Hall delivered another powerful sermon on Psalm 22. Last week he explained the meaning of Verse 6 where Jesus declares “I am a worm”. In today’s sermon he talks about the other animals mentioned in the chapter; the strong bulls with their huge horns, the raging and roaring lion, and a pack of vicious dogs.
We invite you to listen to Pastor John’s sermon to learn what each of these creatures represents.

The Zoo of Psalm 22
Verse 6 of Psalm 22 reads “6But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. I am a worm”.
The Hebrew word for worm used in this passage is tola’ath, meaning crimson worm. The scientific word is “coccus ilicis”.
At the end of its life, the crimson worm climbs a tree to lay its eggs. It attaches itself to the tree, then lays its eggs under its body. During the birthing process, she secretes a crimson fluid. The fluid covers her entire body and all of the eggs she lays, forming a protective shell. When the larvae hatch, they remain under the shell. The mother’s body provides protection and nourishment to the larvae.
Please listen to Pastor John’s awesome sermon to learn why the Son of God would compare Himself to a lowly worm.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John Yohman's Sermon on April 12, 2026
The Kingdom of Heaven, what is it?
Jesus said: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 7:21)
What is the will of the Father?
Jesus said: “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40) Membership into the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what you did or even what you know. It is all about Who you know and whether He knows you.
How will you know God?
Knowing God involves building a personal relationship through prayer, Scripture, gratitude, obedience, and recognizing His presence in daily life.
How will God know you?
God knows you through your relationship with Him, your obedience to His Word, and your
prayer life.
What if you don't build your relationship with God and His Son?
Jesus said: "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
(Matthew 7:23)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14-6)
